A word from Gary... Hi
My name is Gary Durbach and, to begin, I would like to tell you a
little about myself and why, when and how Levia (not for profit) came into being.
Seven years ago, while living in New York, I came across the Rebbetzin
Jungreis’s book The Committed Life. The book was an eye-opener
and mustering all my technological skills, I resolved to discover as
much as I could about the author. I had my own software company and so
prided myself on having a sophisticated knowledge of computers and
understood the immense power of the Internet. The result of my
in-depth search was distressing, disappointing and discouraging.

I immediately proceeded to contact the Rebbetzin directly; told
her how impressed I had been by her book and how I felt she needed
to extend her message meaningfully and universally via the World Wide
Web. Hashem moves in mysterious ways and, in fact, the Rebbetzin was
looking for someone to assist her in this direction. Within a
three-month time span, www.hineni.org was born! A
new path had been established for me (although I was unaware of it at
the time). This was a magical experience and the power of the Web led
to many new contacts and new concerns. This brought me into contact
with various people and various organizations that were eager for help
or were unaware what the web could do for them. It has been an
extremely rewarding experience to assist wherever I could and, to
date, I have a small, but significant portfolio. I feel it would be a waste not to use my computer skills honed in the
cut-throat world of technology and New York to assist these caring
people technologically, thus leaving them free to concentrate on the
human element which cannot be taught and thus makes them
irreplaceable.
As my interest in these organizations is emotional and not financial,
and as a committed Jew who is constantly disturbed with the on-going
struggles of our People throughout the world, my involvement with
these organizations has become stronger over time and is now firmly
entrenched..
Given the expanding role that Levia has begun to play in my life (and
the needs of who we work with, and the high regard I feel towards it,) I have decided it
would be best to concentrate on Levia and
open a Not for Profit Organization to help me dedicate more time and
resources. My last word is to the organizations
and people whom I work with who amaze me with their gratitude towards
me when it is I who am being sweetly nourished. Regards
and Shalom
Gary
